Grand Junction Area Info
The city of Grand Junction is the largest city in western Colorado and is situated 247 miles west of Denver. Settles were draw to the fertile Grand Valley for its agricultural potential, the area is known for its peaches, pears, cherries, and corn. In the late 1970's the first grapes were planted, and is now home to more than 20 wineries.
The Grand Junction area has unparalleled natural beauty. The Colorado National Monument is an outdoors lover's paradise, offering trails for hiking and biking, as well as incredible views of the red rock canyons and stone monoliths. The Grand Mesa situated east of Grand Junction is a spectacular flat-top mountain that plateaus near 10,000 feet. It offers a large variety of activities year-round, including skiing in the winter and hiking, fishing, and biking in the summer.
The Grand Valley is known for its festivals starting in April with the Honey Bee Festival, Country Jam in June and Peach Fest in August and running thru September with the Wine Festival with many more in between.
